This page is about the City
of Hamilton. Itis located in the southern part of the province of
Ontario. The city is situated at the southeastern tip of Lake Ontario.
The area is called "the golden horse shoe" because it is rich in population
and industries. Hamilton is centrally located in the Great Lakes. In an
80-mile radius from the city lives about 100 million people. The city's

Hamilton was founded in 1846. The port of Hamilton discoveries
is in 1669 by an explorer named La Salle. In the city of Hamilton
is a lot of culture and entertainment. Hamilton
Convention Centre with seating for 2000 guests or Copps
Coliseum, with room for up to 19,000 guests are just some of
the attractions.

Another attraction is the Art
Gallery of Hamilton as one of Canada's finest collections of
art. They have 7500 objects of art which many are British or American
cut from the 1900's.
In the vicinity of the Coppa Coliseum is a rich and impressive food
market. The heart of Hamilton is around Gore Park. A very good

The picture at right shows the Hamiltons' new 'city hall which
opened in 1960.
Construction initiated the construction of other facilities as
Art gallery, Hamilton Place and Convention Center.
A tourist attraction and perhaps the most famous
landmark in Hamilton is Dundurn
Castle.
The palace has been restored to the condition it was in when the
magnate and lawyer mm Sir Allan Napier MacNab (1798 - 1862) lived
there. Visit the News is also Royal
Botanical Garden. The rock garden is a natural location for
the shooting of the bridal couple in the spring.
At the border between Hamilton and Stoney Creek was a known type.
In 1813 America declared war against Great Brittain and invaded
Upper Canada (Ontario). U.S. troops from the 13: Brigade and 14:
th infantry had penetrated up to Stoney Creek and set up camp for
the night. The Americans had 3400 man but had set up camp in an
un-protected way. A woodsman named Billy Green from the area had
seen this and went to the British. The British had lost its hegemonic
position to Burlington Heights, where Dundurn Castle now stands.
On the night June 6, 1813 the British surprised the Americans in
the dark of the night, with just 700 men. The Americans were surprising
and suffered heavy losses. The day after they returned down to Niagara
Falls.
Around Hamilton is much to see. That includes 25 waterfalls in the
Hamilton area. One of them is Webster's Falls in the picture to
the right. Webster's Falls 21 meter drop and is 26 meters wide.
There is a staircase down to the fall and you can walk into the
water.
Generally, there are a lot parks in Canada to visit. Only in Hamilton
are 60 parks.
Within easy driving distance from Hamilton is Casino Niagara. If
you are atleast 19 years old, you have access to more than 2,700
slot machines and 135 gaming tables. There are hundreds of hotels

Thousands of years ago the Niagara Escarpment was created. It
is an ascartment (ravine), which stretches from New York through
Ontario. Hamilton is a split in the middle by the shift. Along the
ascartment is a trail called the Bruce Trail. Bruce Trail is 800
kilometers long with a lot of lateral leads. To wander along the
trail is a real adventure
